We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company delivering a wide range of health and wellbeing services across Cheshire. Established for 11 years, the team comprises: Counsellors, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Nutritionists, Personal Trainers, Oral Health Practitioners, Health Professionals and community Development Workers.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced BACP registered Counsellor to facilitate the counselling requirements of our Lottery Community Fund project in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and our Westminster Foundation funded project in rural Cheshire schools.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated counsellor.

Due to COVID-19 this post is currently a mixture of both remote working and physical face-to-face work in schools. A willingness to return to community embedded delivery alongside Healthbox CIC’s flexible approach to working hours is expected.

Main responsibilities will include: * Receiving referrals from our Young Person’s Social Prescribing Link Worker in Ellesmere Port for 1:1 child counselling sessions

  • Building positive working relationships with local schools
  • Attend meetings with the Healthbox CIC counselling team as and when required
  • Support the wider aims of the Lottery project ‘Thinking Well, Feeling Well’
  • Provide regular feedback and service monitoring data for internal quarterly progress reviews
  • Competently use digital data collection platforms (training provided)
  • Confidently manage own caseload
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately, completing all relevant paperwork

Skills and Experience

Training and Experience


  • BACP registered
  • 3 years post qualified experience
  • Experience of working in schools/with young people in a therapeutic capacity
  • Safeguarding Level 3/Data Protection/DBS (Willingness to complete)


  • Experience of supervising others/team leader role
  • Experience of working/volunteering with children’s counselling organisations such as Place2be/Action for Children

Data collection and reporting


  • Experience completing basic reports on activity: number of clients, counselling outcomes, completing validated measures such as GAD7/PHQ9/YP CORE)


  • Experience working in an integrated way with multiple community partners
