Express Yourself Through Poetry

Radiate Arts are currently running workshops from May 5th to June 16th, focusing on bringing people together through the exploration and appreciation of poetry. Led by writer and qualified teacher Emma Beynon, you will be guided through a number of carefully chosen poems that are left open for your interpretation and discussion with others attending. While contributions to the group are encouraged, you may participate as much or as little as you want.

While all forms of writing, from journaling to storytelling, can be therapeutic, poetry writing offers some unique benefits. As well as improving our basic writing skills through poetry, we can also expect to see many mental health benefits such as raising our self-awareness, healing through self-expression, connections and more. If you think about the process of writing a poem, we go through raw expression of our thoughts and feelings and this can help us to become more attuned to what’s going on in our hearts and minds.

What To Expect From The Workshop

Those facilitating workshops welcome anybody into a safe and supportive social space, where you are invited to share your own personal experiences, thoughts and feelings inspired by the poems. This is a cathartic and satisfying way of processing emotions that can teach you a more positive perspective once they're on a piece of paper.

It's also important to remember that anyone can come and participate, no matter your knowledge of poetry or your ability to write. Any and all contributions to the discussion are welcome, as there is no right or wrong way to read and understand poetry.
